We are pleased to announce that the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR), in collaboration with the Financial Services Commission (FSC), is in the development stages of an Online Business Registry System (OBRS). This online registry will be a world-class web-based registry platform accessible from anywhere in the world!
Norway Registers Development AS (NRD Companies), a consultancy firm, successfully delivered the first module, which includes the following features: User Registration, Business Name Reservation, Limited Liability Partnership Registration, and the Processing and Verification of E-certificates via QR codes.
To make it easier to launch a business in Belize, the transition to a digital and modern registry is critical. This should help to formalize and grow all firms, especially domestic micro, small, and medium businesses (MSMEs).
The effort is also critical for promoting Belize as a global competitor, and it will complement important revisions to Belize’s legal framework for managing corporate life cycles that are now ongoing. The implementation of OBRS will raise the Registry and the country to international standards, transforming the Registry into a digital leader.
