COVID-19 UPDATE: Statutory Instrument No. 106 of 2021

As a safety measure against the spread of Covid-19, the Minister of Health & Wellness Belize has issued Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 106 of 2021 with effect for the period September 20, 2021, to October 3, 2021.

Pertinent updates contained within the full SI include:

  • During the period September 20, 2021, to October 3, 2021, a curfew is hereby imposed, during the hours of 7:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. of the following morning (except for Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker Village, Hopkins Village, and the Placencia Peninsula whose curfew hours are from 9:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. of the following morning).
  • On September 26, 2021, and October 3, 2021, a person’s right to move during the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 6:59 p.m. is restricted to movement except for compelling reasons as outlined in the SI.
  • During the period September 20, 2021, to October 3, 2021, a person shall not engage in contact sports.
  • During the period September 20, 2021, to October 3, 2021, no casino or other gaming establishment shall be allowed to operate.
  • During the period September 20, 2021, to October 3, 2021, no church or other place of worship shall be allowed to operate.
  • Street food vendors shall be allowed to operate for take-out services only.
  • Restaurants, saloons, diners, and other similar establishments allowed to operate under this regulation may offer take-out services only (with the exception of those situated in Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker Village, Hopkins Village, and the Placencia Peninsula whose requirements are detailed in the full SI).
